ActiveVOS Fundamentals

Taught by expert instructors from Active Endpoints, ActiveVOS Fundamentals is a four day, online course designed for new users of ActiveVOS. Each day will consist of live demos, discussions and hands-on labs covering all of the basic skills needed to design, develop, test, deploy and monitor new business processes in ActiveVOS. This course is also available for onsite delivery.

Audience

Architects and developers who after attending this class, will have a firm grasp of best practices and techniques needed to implement standards-based composite applications using ActiveVOS.

Pre-requisites

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of SOA and web services
  • Installation of the latest version of ActiveVOS Designer. Download a supported, 30-day trial of ActiveVOS here.

Course Objectives

  • Gain experience with ActiveVOS through labs that take you through the entire application lifecycle
  • Learn best practices and techniques for planning and developing processes using ActiveVOS
  • Understand various control-flow patterns that can be leveraged within a process (loops, scopes, fork-join, pick, conditional branches)
  • Learn how to incorporate human activities and Java objects as part of a business process
  • Test, deploy and execute business processes using ActiveVOS Designer
  • Use the ActiveVOS console to monitor and administer running processes
  • Become familiar with the concept and use of process correlation and callbacks

ActiveVOS Fundamentals Training is an online, instructor-led course delivered consecutively in four half-day segments. Each day includes a 1 hour lecture and 4 hours of hands on lab work.

Introduction, BPEL concepts and fundamental constructs and an introduction to ActiveVOS and its capabilities Create a process using ActiveVOS Designer that uses basic BPEL constructs such as variables, receive and reply, and explore capabilities such as simulation
Complete interaction activities, data handling and message correlation Make the process more robust by adding additional interaction activities, assigns to manipulate data and correlation sets
Fault handling, Event handling, scopes and review Extend the process with additional BPEL constructs including event handlers, fault handling, scopes, global declarations, assignments and sequences.
Conditional, concurrent and iterative processing Add more complex BPEL constructs including if, flow, pick, while, wait and links
